Romania trip 2015

Tonya Reed and I traveled to Romania from September 16 – 28!  It was a sweet, enjoyable time – we felt very loved and the Holy Spirit flowed.  For me this was an awesome journey, following my songs to a place I’d never been, but finding them already hard at work before me.  Joy!

Missionary Brad Hayes, invited me and Tonya to Romania.  His life has been impacted powerfully by the Lord Jesus through 2 of my songs, “I See the Lord” and “Pioneer.” Brad and his wife Nora moved their family to Romania 14 years ago to pioneer the work of Outstretched Hands of Romania.  Their vision is to raise an army of children and poor to bring the gospel to the unreached parts of the country.

Brad and Nora organize tent meetings that draw village children and families to hear the gospel.  They have an amazing team helping them, including some young musicians who were super fun to jam with.  At the tent meetings we all had different jobs to do.  Mine, besides singing, was to share the gospel with small groups.  With help from a talented translator I gave the simple plan of salvation which praise God never changes no matter what country we are in.

I had the joy of learning to sing “I See the Lord” and the chorus of “Pioneer” in Romanian.  The Holy Spirit flowed as we worshipped together. The Lord provided three talented young Romanian ladies who did the translations and coached me.

My Spanish skills came in very handy as a number of people had worked in Spain and could converse well in “español!”  The whole crowd loved a lively Mexican chorus that means, “tonight we are going to have fun in Jesus!”

Tonya and I took part in a 2 day leadership conference.  What an honor to be able to pour into the lives of 150 leaders, including 22 students from Teen Challenge in Bucharest.  The Lord provided for them to come to both days of the conference, plus they enjoyed a feast of barbecue especially for them at the end.

Tonya spoke a powerful message at the conference and counseled with more than 20 folks personally during our trip. She brought a much needed flow of healing!

I taught on music ministry in 3 sessions: what I learned from the Lord as a young artist, as an older artist, and as a worship leader.  There was a tremendous hunger in all the hearers!

Let’s keep praying for this effective ministry, Outstretched Hands of Romania, as they raise up a new generation that is walking with Jesus!
